How to create an account

Creating a Kaarakauppa account

You need a Kaarakauppa account to publish a listing, save listings you like, or message a seller. Browsing and search work without an account.

The same account works everywhere on Kaarakauppa — including this support site. Sign-in is handled by Kaarakauppa's identity service (Keycloak), so you don't create a separate support account. You always sign in with your email address and a sign-in link — there are no passwords on Kaarakauppa.

1. Choose your account type

Kaarakauppa has two kinds of account:

• Private account — for selling individual vehicles and buying for yourself. The basic listing is free.
• Business account — for car dealerships and other professional sellers. A business account adds features such as a public company profile, the company dashboard, and the option to show financing prices on listings.

Registration starts from the Sell your car page, reached from the top-bar Sell your car button. You'll see two cards side by side:

• As a private user, click Register and start selling on the Private seller card. It opens the identity service to create a private account.
• As a business, the Car dealer card takes you to the business page with a pricing calculator; click Register and start for free there. See Creating a business account.

If you're already signed in on an account, the card shows that email address and offers a Use a different account button: it signs you out first and starts registration with a new address.

💡 Tip: Pick the account you intend to sell with right here — you can't change the account type later. For the differences, see Private vs business accounts.

2. Confirm your email

When you select a register button, you're redirected to Kaarakauppa's identity service. Enter your email address — no password is asked for or ever set. You'll receive a sign-in link by email; click it within 15 minutes to create your account and sign in automatically.

⚠️ Heads up: Use an email address you read regularly. The same address is used for signing in going forward, as well as buyer enquiries on your listings and support replies.

3. Complete your account details

After signing in, you're sent automatically to a page that completes your account. What you see depends on the account type you chose.

Private account

The private account's onboarding view is your profile page with a Complete your profile banner at the top. Fill in:

1. Your name and phone number.
2. Default location — the postal code used as the default location on your listings and in search.
3. Optionally a profile picture.

Save with the Save Changes button at the end.

Business account

Business onboarding is a three-step wizard:

1. Your profile — your own name and contact info.
2. Company essentials — company name, business ID, the billing address, and where you sell cars from (the billing address or elsewhere) — this creates your first location.
3. Confirm and pay — pick your listing-slot count and add-ons, or continue on the free tier. Payment happens here only if your selection is paid.

⚠️ Heads up: You can't publish a listing or message a seller until onboarding is finished. If you close the tab partway through, signing in again returns you to the same completion page.

What happens next?

After onboarding you land on the Kaarakauppa front page, signed in. The same account signs you in to the support site automatically the next time you open support.kaarakauppa.fi and select Sign in. As a private user you can publish your first listing right away — as a business account owner you can also invite team members from the company dashboard.
