Private vs business accounts

    Two account types

    Kaarakauppa has two kinds of user account: a private account for selling individual vehicles and buying for yourself, and a business account for car dealerships and other professional sellers. Both accounts are created in the same Kaarakauppa identity service and sign in the same way — with an email address and a sign-in link, never a password. What differs is the content and the actions you see once you are signed in.

    Private account

    A private account is for personal use: you sell an individual vehicle or look for your next car. The basic listing is free, and the account is not attached to any company.

    The avatar menu shows Profile, Messages, My listings, Boosts for listing visibility, Saved listings, Saved searches, and Payments. No company tools are shown.

    Business account

    A business account is for car dealerships and other professional sellers. Creating one requires a Finnish Business ID (Y-tunnus) and basic company details — and the user is always attached to a company. A paid subscription is optional: you can start on the free tier and buy listing slots when you need them.

    In place of the private items (My listings, Boosts, Payments), the avatar menu carries its own Dashboard shortcut. The dashboard's sidebar holds every company tool: Dashboard, Company listings, Analytics, Boosts, Locations, Homepage (with the add-on), Team, Company & billing, Subscription, Payments, and External integrations. The company also gets its own free public company profile, the option to show a "Financing from … €/month" price on its listings, and the ability to invite team members with different roles (Owner, Admin, Staff).

    How to choose

    Pick a private account if you only sell your own vehicles or buy for yourself. Pick a business account if you have a Y-tunnus and sell vehicles regularly — for example as a dealership, rental company, or importer.

    You pick the account type when you register, and it can't be changed later. A private account and a business account are separate accounts: listings, messages and subscriptions stay on the account that created them. If you sell both your own vehicles and professionally, create both accounts — each with its own email address.

    💡 Tip: Pick the account you intend to sell with. If you have a Y-tunnus and sell vehicles for a living, start on a business account straight away: the public company profile, the dashboard and team roles are then available to you from your first listing on.

    Joining a company

    You join a company's team by invitation, sent to your email address by a company admin. The invitation only works with a business account: if your address already has a private account, the invitation can't be created or accepted for it — ask for it to be sent to a different address, such as a work email. If the address has no account at all yet, create a business account with that email first (see Creating a business account) and accept the invitation afterwards. The listings and messages on your private account stay where they are.

    The same Kaarakauppa account can belong to only one company at a time. If you are already a member of one company, you cannot join another until you leave the current one.
