Setting up search watches

A search watch lets Kaarakauppa notify you whenever a new listing matches your criteria — you do not need to keep checking the search page manually. Creating a search watch requires a Kaarakauppa account.

Creating a search watch

1. Log in to Kaarakauppa.
2. Go to the search page and apply the filters you care about — for example, make, model, year range, and price.
3. Click the Save this search button at the top of the search results.

1. The watch is created immediately. Its name is generated from your filters — for example, "Toyota Corolla" (make + model) or "BMW 2020-2023" (make + year range) — you can rename it later.
2. The watch appears on your Saved searches page at /user/search-watches.

💡 Tip: Apply specific filters before saving. A very broad watch — for example, just a make with no price ceiling — can produce dozens of notifications per week. Use the search sidebar's advanced filters to narrow the criteria first.

Managing your search watches

All your search watches are listed on the Saved searches page (/user/search-watches, in the avatar menu). From there you can:

• View new matches — the watch card shows a count of new matches; open the watch to see the latest 10 matching listings.
• Edit a watch — change its name, update the filter criteria, or adjust notification settings in the edit dialog.
• Pause a watch — click the toggle on the watch card to switch between Active and Paused. A paused watch sends no notifications but stays in your list; you can resume it at any time.
• Delete a watch — permanently remove the watch.

⚠️ Heads up: You can have a maximum of 10 active search watches at a time. Paused watches do not count toward this limit, so you can pause a less urgent watch to make room for a new one. Attempting to create an eleventh active watch is rejected by the system.

Notification settings

For each watch you can choose how you are notified about new matches:

• In-app notification — a badge appears next to the bell icon in the top bar. On by default.
• Email notification — a summary of new matches is sent to your email. On by default.

Both can be turned off independently from the watch's edit view.

💡 Tip: If you are tracking several makes across different price ranges, consider keeping email notifications on only for your most urgent watches — that way the important matches stand out in your inbox.

How new matches arrive

Kaarakauppa checks all active search watches against new listings once per hour. When a match is found:

1. You receive an in-app notification in the top bar (if enabled).
2. You receive an email summary with links to the matching listings (if enabled).
3. The new matches counter on the watch card increases.

Click a watch card to open its detail view — you will see the latest 10 matching listings, and the counter resets to zero.

Your search watches stay active until you pause or delete them. When you spot the right vehicle, you can contact the seller directly from its listing page. See also How to save listings if you want to bookmark individual listings without notifications.
